Conference titles are the round of 8, on a historic field in that region. This season the Final Four is the Rose Bowl and Orange Bowl; the championship is the Sugar Bowl. Next year those three sites rotate.

The format (this part is not a sketch)
256 = 4 × 64. Each division is four conferences of 16. Empty seats are not allowed. Travel fills the gap — never East-to-West.
Schedule. Three out of conference, nine in. Border rivalries the map splits (Florida–Florida State) live here. Miami–Notre Dame does not have to — both sit in the East.
Playoff. Each division has a 16-team bracket. Round of 16 at home; after that, neutral. Division I conference titles are on a historic in-region field; its Final Four and title rotate among the Rose, Sugar, and Orange.
Promotion stays in the region

The last team in I, II, and III is marked ↓; the first in II, III, and IV is marked ↑. Up and down are 1-for-1 inside a division: a North II champion replaces that North I last-place side. Last in IV is last place — the league is 256. The Index says who is good. The league says who belongs on this table.
